Module 3

Safety & Contraindications/ Consultation/ Pre & Post Care Instructions

  • Sunburnt skin
  • Open lesions
  • Active Acne
  • Using Retinol or Accutane Products
  • Any skin treatments such as filler, peels, laser should be performed at least 4 weeks before or 4 weeks after tattooing is fully healed.

Make sure to go over all of the contraindications with the client prior to start of service.

Ask the client to show you images of the effect they are looking for. It is easier to gauge the clients ideal result with images than assuming their descriptions are of exactly  what they are thinking of. Let the client know that some skin procedures will be more difficult to perform because of the tattooing such as Laser and IPL facials. Immediately after the procedure the freckles will appear darker and raised with some local redness. They will soften in color and the edges will blur, leaving very real looking freckles. It will take anywhere from three days to two weeks to fully heal.

How Long Do Freckles Last?

PMU freckles are not actually permanent, lasting for a couple of years.

Pre+Post Care:

Any area being tattooed should be free of makeup and skin products. It is strongly recommended to hold off of any facial procedures such as Lasers, IPL, Injectables or peels for at least 4 weeks before and after the last session. It is also strongly advised to have a good SPF on the skin while the client is outside. The client should keep their skin dry the day of the procedure and gently wash daily followed by a very light, sensitive formula moisturizer until the flaking has stopped. Clients should not be exfoliating during this time.

Cost of Procedure

Cost of faux freckle procedures are anywhere between $150-$300.
